OpenOffice TrainingRoom - online training materials

The OpenOffice and StarOffice training materials are available as an e-Learning programme “The Training Room”, written for Windows XP and OpenOffice / StarOffice. “The Training Room” is a web based system that is easy to use. It is designed to act as both a self paced computer based training tool and a resource for students.

Students can log onto the “Training Room” at any time from any location once they have the URL, their login and password.

The StarOffice training materials are available as an eLearning programme “The Training Room.” Following the theme of “Read Me, Show Me, Test Me”, it is an innovative method of teaching which allows students of all levels to relate to the content and creates a positive learning experience.

Show Me”….

  • provides a short video of every function contained in each section.

  • is a mini video showing the student what happens when following a certain instruction.

  • launches an additional window, allowing the student to move between the video and the text version of the site, in order to make the most of the learning experience.

Test Me”….

  • allows students to assess their own progress.

  • allows tutors to directly monitor the students’ progress and provide the necessary assistance and guidance.

  • provides a multiple-choice questionnaire at the end of each section, enabling students to view and assess their scores and their level of understanding.

  • provides students with multiple choice questionnaires which can be uploaded for tutors to assess.

  • allows students to upload files with samples of their work for review by tutors.

  • allows students and tutors to assess their level of knowledge before taking the official ECDL test.
